This man was poor and left for a day to fish for crab to bring food home for the kids. On his way back while riding a bicycle with a crate full of crab, he was struck and killed by a car.
The accident happened on Saturday December 29, 2012, on the Várzea Nova stretch of the BR-101 highway in Santa Rita, near João Pessoa, the capital city of the state of Paraíba, Brazil. The driver of the black Volkswagen that hit the old man said the bicyclist attempted to cross the busy highway in spite of a lot of traffic. The driver did not flee but called the ambulance instead. Unfortunately, there was nothing anyone could do for the bicyclist.
